Latest Sixth Pay Comission News on Rediff 17 October

6th pay commission may give reward to 4.5 million central government employees before its sheduled period and may be effected from January 2006.

Top beuracrates can get salary upto 75000 + other allowances and perks.
To keep pace with the private sector salary it is necessary, while Fifth Pay Commission was not commensurate.




In 2004, the government raised the Basic Salary by 50 per cent, but the key pay scales remained unchanged. An additional DA of 41 per cent is given on this revised basic pay.

Sources said HRA can also be increased. Desinations may also change at lower levels of Government employyes, making them market oriented.


The Sixth Pay Commission, headed by Justice B N Srikrishna, was constituted last October. It comprises Sushama Nath (member-secretary), Ravindra Dholakia and J S Mathur.
GDP burden due to 6th pay commission - rose from 1.6 percent 1996-97 to 2.3 % by 1999-2000.
